St. Peter’s Catholic Primary School (Voluntary Aided) for children age 4-11 years, warmly welcomes all parents, carers, prospective parents and friends interested in learning more about the school. It is conveniently located in the town centre of Leamington Spa.
St. Peter’s School has always been an integral part of St. Peter’s RC parish. As far back as 1850 a convent was established on the present site and a two storey extension, consisting of two classrooms and offices, was erected behind the convent house. The nuns then opened their first school in Leamington.
In 1879 there was substantial additional building, when the large main hall and associated classrooms came into existence at the side of the original convent and school.
The school has been through many stages of development since the nuns built a school behind their small convent in 1850, and began the long tradition of teaching and learning at St. Peter’s. Another extensive alteration and building programme took place in 1996. Further work in 2004 provided an ICT suite, new toilets and improved access and circulation around the school. In 2011, a ramp was installed between the two playgrounds to provide disability access and enable safer access for parents with pushchairs.
St. Peter’s has spacious buildings of historic and architectural interest providing a very pleasant working environment. The new plan of restoration and modernisation has also ensured that the school buildings are in excellent repair and have modern facilities. In 2004 the school celebrated 125 years of existence.
This booklet has been prepared so that the aims, curriculum and daily life of the school may be clearly set out for your benefit. Any further information may be obtained by telephoning the school or by making an appointment to see the Headteacher.
