Key Stage 1
Class 2 CurriculumLearn By Doing
In Class 2, we have a 2 year program of study. Each year start by transitioning children from Reception so that they are ready for the Year 1 Curriculum. As in every year group, we teach to the child because we recognise that everyone is ready to learn at different times.
Reading and Phonics
In Year 1, we continue to learn to read using the Twinkl Phonics scheme. When we are ready, we start to use Accelerate Reader to help start us on our journey through literature

Year A Curriculum Enhancements
We know that children learn best when they are experiencing new things. Enquiring, exploring and immersing themselves in their learning. We do the following activities to enhance their experience across the curriculum and to strengthen their Cultural Capital.
Autumn Term
We visit the Sealife Centre.
We discover war memorials around our town.
We go to the Theatre to watch the Pantomime.
We hosted a visit from the Buddhist Temple.
We go to Church to celebrate feasts such as Christmas and Harvest.
We collect food for the Food Bank.

We visit Warwick Castle to see the Trebuchet, as part of our Design Technology work

We learn about the importance of staying active to keep our bodies healthy in wellbeing week.
We imagine travelling to Australia!
We explore Leamington Spa and learn about what makes our home town unique.
We visit an art gallery.
